The following is being offered by the Wright Flyers Model Airplane Club.
This nice 70-inch span airplane is equipped with the following:
Motor: Himax Outrunner HC3528-1000
ESC: Castle Lite 50 with EC5 connector
Receiver: Spektrum AR610
Servos: Hitec HS 645MG on ail x 2, elevator
Futaba S3003 on rudder/nose gear
A new LT-40 ARF with no motor, ESC or servos sells for about $350 to $400 (including shipping) if you can find one.
The Motor and ESC on this airplane are the exact ones used by SIG for their flight testing and they report "excellent results". However, you may wish to upgrade this model with a more powerful motor. The current Himax motor skirts the recommended limits for aerobatic flight as explained below:
Sig recommends: "For ELECTRIC POWER use a 500 - 800-watt Brushless Outrunner Motor, 50-75A ESC."
The Himax specs for our motor are: HC3528 -450-watt motor for midsize models weighing up to 96 oz for aerobatic flight and 144 oz for leisure flight.
The LT-40 weighs about 96 oz, so it is at the motor's upper limit for aerobatic flight but well within the leisure flight limit.
Himax recommends a 60-amp ESC. This aircraft has been flying with a 50 amp ESC (the current is well below 50 amps).
The Himax motor sells for more than $80.00
The Castle 50 amp ESC sells for about $90.00
Just the motor and ESC are worth much more than our asking price.
Our asking price is now reduced to only $100.00! If it does not sell at this price, the club will keep it for a trainer.
